The WCPA appreciates any donations of whatever amount of money or time you can spare. The park has been primarily funded by the generosity of our community. As we head into the final phase of park development, completion is finally within sight. Online donations are processed through PayPal, no account needed to donate.

ABOUT WCPA HISTORY:

Here is the original masterplan created in 2006 at the beginning. As you can see we are almost to our goal!

The Waterfront Community Park Association, a non-profit 501 (c) 3, was formed in the fall of 2005 to begin fundraising for the park. The landscape design was created with input from Hood River citizens throughout the county. Those visions were incorporated into a Phase 1 plan by Greenworks Landscape designers to build "a world class gathering place." Since then,
the WCPA has worked closely with the City of Hood River to fund and build the park.

Phase 1

Phase 1 was completed in 2008, with the award of the first grant of $500,000
from Oregon Parks and Recreation. A grant from the Ford Family Foundation
was combined with many other donations to
accomplish this portion. In 2009, the solar powered restrooms and the
children's play area were constructed. Next, J.T. Atkins designers completed
the landscape plan for Phase 2. With additional funding from Oregon State
Parks and the WCPA two picnic shelters were completed in 2010.

Phase 2

In 2011, we will complete another important project at the park that adds
two drinking fountains, a rinsing shower and more shade trees. At our 2011
Spring Fling we raised money to add three more picnic tables.

Since we began, the WCPA has raised over $763,000 for the park as well as
assisting in obtaining grants of $1,485,000 for a combined total of
$2,248,000 raised to date.

The remaining cost for Phase 2, is currently estimated at $550,000 which
would include the amphitheater, irrigation and landscaping needed to
complete the park. We are almost there!
