Adopt a Plot- was created as a subcommittee of the Waterfront Community Park Association to connect local Gorge residents to assist in sustaining the landscape within the Hood River Waterfront Community Park.

The concept behind Adopt a Plot is that families, businesses, schools, non-profit organizations, and individuals can participate as community volunteers to maintain the garden plots within the Park. Volunteers that commit to adopting a plot are responsible for keeping their space free of weeds and debris. Adopt a Plot does not cost anything except for sweat equity and a spirit of giving back to the community provided by the adopters. We even offer weed and native plant identification instruction at the park during our bi-annual weeding parties.

Can’t commit to a plot? No problem, we are happy to offer “drop in weeding and plot care options”.
Can I still help if I don’t want to Adopt A Plot? Yes, weeds and plants can be easily identified on the 2 signs at the park. Clover, vetch, and mustard can always go. Cleaning up litter is always appreciated.
Where do I dump debris after weeding? Do I need to bag it? There is a trailer on the west side of the park behind the future site of our amphitheatre and weeds can be dumped in the trailer without being bagged. They will all be re-composted at the refuse center.
Have trees or mulch to donate to your park? A couple hours to help out?
