How
Will the Park be Funded?
The Waterfront Community Park
Association along with the City of Hood River is raising funds to complete
the $3.5 million park. These funds are coming from foundations, public
agencies, grants, corporations, and individuals and every other source we
can think of! In-kind donations are also welcome.
Development of the park will occur in two phases. Phase 1 is occurring
now. Phase 2 development is being planned and will be completed as funding
allows. Please see our Get

CONTRIBUTIONS We have several founding sponsorship
levels available. As a founding sponsor, you will be recognized on our
website (unless you instruct us otherwise). These funds are needed for
engineering, construction and installation.
Founding Sponsor Levels:

- Platinum Sponsor: $5,000+
- Gold Sponsor: $2,500+
- Silver Sponsor: $1,000+

Are you getting married? Consider having your friends and family donate to the park in your name!
You can also purchase specific items for the park, such as benches,
picnic tables, bike racks and trees! These (except for trees) will include

The Waterfront Community Park Association is a non-profit
501(c)3 organization, making all donations
tax-deductible. If you would like to donate

GRANTS, IN-KIND DONATIONS, AND OTHER
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Port of Hood River donated the land valued at $1.7 million to the
City.
- Oregon Parks and Recreation Department awarded the City of Hood
River a $500,000 matching grant for Phase 1 construction.
- Hood River Parks and Recreation District contributed over $200,000
from SDC funds to support Phase 1 park design and construction.
- Waterfront Community Park Association raised and contributed over
$350,000 to the Phase 1 construction.
- Columbia River Keepers/ BNSF donated $70,000.
- Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association/BNSF donated $70,000.
- Ford Family Foundation has awarded the WCPA $200,000 for park
construction.
- Oregon Community Foundation granted the WCPA $40,000 for Phase 1.
- Oregon Investment Board donated $20,000 for park design and grant
writing.
- Jay F. Sherrerd, Attorney at Law, donated time and expertise in
setting up WCPA as a 501c3 and helped us with our bi-laws and policies.
- Eric Rhodes contributed his time in creating and building the bike racks.
Note: Money saved through the donation of building time was designated for the
building of permanent restrooms at the park.
- the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Local Government Grant Program awarded $50,000
for a Children's Play Area in September 2008. Scott Baker accepted the award, which was co-sponsored in
application by th WCPA, the City of hood River, and the Hood River Parks and Recreation Department.
Thanks to your generous contributions, Phase 1 was
completed in Summer 2008.
But we're not done!
Let's finish the park… Phase 2 construction is estimated at $1.8
million.
